PAINTING NOW!
“Painting Now!” is about examining the relationship between painting and performativity.
Centuries of (re)search have enabled artists into journeys of self-realization and self-reflexivity in their practices. After the era of representation, the search has become about “I” within the space and time continuum, which has revealed conditions of setting relations from “I” to life.
In our contemporariness, these progressive developments have highlighted performativity within the mode of the every artistic creation, which means the revealing of the phenomenon of “act” within performative time zones.
The act of painting is performative!

OPENING: 17.10.2012, 7 pm, Bahnhof Ostkreuz, Sonntagstrasse/Markgrafendamm, 10245 Berlin
EXHIBITION: 18.10. – 30.11.2012
Made in 2000, with the economic climate of the time in mind, these images were taken in the City of London in the early morning when the City had not yet come to life. Ceteris paribus (the status of the social and political conditions of the time being equal), by manually manipulating the photographs during the development process of the images, Dolanbay envisages the City in a future that reflects the course of these antecedent circumstances.
